Rave On For The Avon follows a tapestry of people who love and fight to protect the Bristol Avon. These river lovers are a bunch of eclectic people including, Lindsey a mermaid who is the first to cross the Bristol Channel towing a giant poo, Meg who marries the river, Kim a puppeteer of the Goddess of the Wye and the Conham Bathing group, who have taken testing the river water into their own hands.
Mrs Meg Avon and The Goddess of the Wye (and Kim, puppeteer and river advocate) have joined me (Charlotte, Director the film) on tour to bring that special Rave On magic to screenings.
The River Wye and The River Avon have also joined our screenings, with space given to honour the river water's presence. Our hope is to flip to conversation, from viewing the river as a resource to an entity with the right to flow free from pollution. This is how we see our gorgeous rivers, but how do we make that clear to decision-makers and polluters who's actions convey the opposite?
Through art, poetry and ceremony, we're hoping to reflect on our connection and relationship to rivers in this modern life.
Here are some pics from our tour in Hay-on-Wye, Tywyn and Coleford.
